I forgot to get some photos and videos of my workout today😖, just kinda felt like really focusing and pushing it today for the start of the week💪😏🤙. But here's a sample clip of my AMRAP set for postworkout/cardio/burn 🔥. Pushups x10, 35lb KB shoulder iso-press x10 each, and back to pushups for 10 minutes. I'm dead. Team no calves - I haven’t been great at getting my video submissions for my lifting coach. This past week I just went in and got the work in but I realize how important analyzing the movements is, especially as the bar gets heavier. - Today’s squats felt great! 6 weeks out! The top pictures were taken at the beginning of June 2019, before I started a new training program. The pictures on the bottom I took this morning, I completed the three-month program last week. In the first two months, I strength trained 4 sessions a week, for one hour. The last month I dropped my training down to 3 one hour sessions and ran for 30 minutes 2 days a week. This is why taking progress pictures is so important. I have only lost about 1-2 pounds over the last three months. My stomach is visibly flatter, and in the last picture, you can see my waist is significantly smaller. If I had gone by the scale alone, I would have felt like I hadn't made any progress or very little. The pictures tell a different story. Progress should be measured by more than the number on the scale. How are you feeling? How do your clothes fit? Do you have more energy? Are you getting stronger? EATING OUT THE SMART WAY by @newtonkwong ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Eating out with friends and loved ones is one of the many joys of life. Typically you should be able to do this guilt free without having to worry about whether they’ll mess up your progress or not. One large and tasty meal once in a while won’t hurt you in the long run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BUT...if you find yourself in situations where this becomes more common than just “once in a while” then here are some tips you can use to be smarter about eating out: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1.) Order a salad, or a dish containing lots of vegetables ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Make sure the dressing and oils are light. Eat this first before you order anything else. Once you are done with the vegetables, continue to order the following: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2.) Something high in protein ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A prime cut of meat or fish will do you well here. Preferably something that doesn’t contain many sauces or oils. This should be the most filling part of your meal. If you’re still hungry, then order the following: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3.) WE ARE BACK TO REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING! • Leg workouts can be blistering, but sometimes we don’t have an hour to get in a full leg workout so we have to make things work • When I’m pushed for time, I always make sure to get at least one heavy exercise and two accessories in • This video features the leg press, the angled calf raise, and leg extensions • Not filmed in this video are the hamstring curls that I squeezed in. The leg press was four working sets and two warm-up sets • The calf raises were all four sets, medium intensity • Give it a try!!!

Pretty stoked. Only 3 weeks after a minor back injury, and I’m back at it again. Just worked up to a nice single narrow-stanced squat @455 with the cambered bar, PAIN-FREE. Felt solid, and moved remarkably fast. So to say that I’m recovering well is apparently a gross understatement. This morning’s workout was a challenge, especially because my forearms and legs were sore from holding up my body weight in the obstacles at the race this weekend. 😆💪🏼🦵🏼🔥 I had my students do some extra stretching brain breaks today to hopefully help out with how sore my hamstrings are going to be in the morning. Sometimes you have to shake the cobwebs of doubt and unworthiness, the what if’s of what if someone laughs or critiques out before you can conquer and achieve. Monday was a faster paced, heavier weighted workout. But the weight on my shoulders and in my head was much heavier. I had to dig deep, use my resources to clear the negative and it works. I came out on the other side and was stronger for it and stand tall. You need to talk it out? I’ll listen

A beginner’s guide to a few non-negotiables in fitness:⁣ ⁣ I am often asked how to “get started” into fitness. In truth, the only way to get started is to start. But once you’ve done that, here are a few other basic things that’ll help keep you on the right track: ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Eat according to your goals and don’t be an asshole. For some this might include tracking intake. Get your micros in from REAL food, not powders or pills. Just because you can eat less nutrient dense foods here and there doesn’t mean you should all the time (I say this as someone who neglected veggies BIG time when my bulking cals were sky high. Don’t do that too) 🥦🍓🥑🥚🍌⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Show TF up. If you want a change you need to show like like you haven’t before. Put in consistent WORK over a sustained period, do your research. You need to be able to hold yourself accountable and call yourself out. This isn’t a quick process for people who are accustomed to instant gratification or shortcuts.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Know when to back off. More is not always more. Check in with yourself: are you thinking about backing off for a legitimate need or are you just looking to slack? ⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Water/fiber/sleep. You GUYS—wondering why your digestion is shit, you have poor recovery, or in general otherwise feel bad? Check up on this: are you getting at least a gallon of water in per day? What about the fiber? (25-35g/day), don’t even get me started on sleep. You NEED it. Prioritize it, treat it like an appointment and show up. Don’t be late ⏰ ⁣ ⁣ I could go on and on but at the end of the day it’s not rocket science—it’s patience, being mentally/physically/emotionally in touch with yourself, and did I mention patience??
